Monitoring the well-being of the fetus

When does it take place?
Usually after 36 weeks, with repetitions every week (or more often if necessary).
In some cases, it may be necessary and earlier in pregnancy.

Duration & Procedure
Duration: 20-40 minutes
Painless & simple test
The pregnant woman lies down and wears two zones around the abdomen:

One for the recording of fetal heartbeats.
One for the recording of uterine contractions (if any).

Normal cardiogram values
Fetal pulses: 110-160 beats/minute (basic frequency).
Volatility: Swinging more than 5 beats/minute.
Accelerations: Increase in heart rate when the fetus moves.

No prolonged slowdowns during the examination.

Why is it important?

❧ Control of the autonomic nervous system of the fetus, which regulates heart function.
❧ Check for signs of hypoxiato ensure adequate oxygenation of the fetus.
Recording of contractions for possible onset of labour.

Home cardiotocography

The midwife comes to your home, carries out the examination and the result stored & sent to your obstetrician.
Necessary medical order by the attending obstetrician to perform the examination.
